Baker's 7-Year-Old Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey
(Kentucky) [WA 93, #16 Top 20 of 2019]

BEST NORCAL PRICE

About the Whiskey:
Maintaining its 107 proof and minimum seven-year age statement, Baker’s will also debut a new bottle design, featuring details about the individual barrel, including the age, the warehouse in which it was aged and the date it was barreled.

Baker’s Bourbon is distilled at a lower proof than most whiskies from the James B. Beam Distilling Company, which contributes to its rich flavor, the company says. As a single-barrel bourbon, the tasting notes will vary from barrel-to-barrel and bottle-to-bottle, but some of the defining characteristics include:

Nose: Fruity, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, spice.

Palate: Nutty, with good grip. Plenty of tangy fruit with vanilla spice and rounded char.

Finish: Rounded, good length, sweetness and coffee.
Mashbill: 77% Corn, 13% Rye, 10% Malted Barley

93 Points & #16 Top 20 Whiskies of 2019 - Whisky Advocate:
"Poor Baker Beam, great-nephew of Jim Beam. His eponymous Baker’s bourbon ended up a sleeper bottle alongside rightfully lauded Booker’s bourbon and stellar limited editions of Knob Creek. But this year, Baker’s has reason to boast, as it gets the single-barrel treatment. It will remain 107 proof and a minimum of 7 years old. However, the addition of details like barreling date, age, warehouse, and barrel number will make for fun treasure hunting. Our bottle offered a lush palate of blackberries, delicious dried fruits, licorice, and cinnamon." — Jeffery Lindenmuth

"From the first sips of this tasting I was awarded with multiple layers of flavors and textures. Baker’s Single Barrel Bourbon grants a glimpse into the fire of inspiration that the distillers built into this pleasant sipper crafted with boisterous and bold flavors for a more adventurous bourbon drinker."

Pikesville 110 Proof Straight Rye Whiskey
(Kentucky)

About the Whiskey:

Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey refuses to be forgotten. First produced in Maryland in the 1890s, the brand, along with the rest of the once-booming Maryland Rye industry, was shuttered by prohibition. The brand reemerged after prohibition and became the last standing Maryland Rye, as the rest of the industry's production had ceased.

Now produced in Kentucky from extra-aged barrels stored in prime warehouse locations, Heaven Hill keeps this historic Maryland mark alive with this award-winning six-year-old, 110 proof offering.

Bottle Size: 750ml

Tasting Notes

95 Points, Gold - Intl Wine & Spirits Competition 2021
"Cookie dough, hot cinnamon with rum and raisin ice cream nuances. Great depth with barbeque meats and corn developing vegetal and tropical fruit elements. Fun and expressive with peppery richness and characterful spice underpinning sensational length."

94 Points, Finalist, Great Value, Tried & True - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2021
"Warming aromatics of gingerbread, peppered steak, and butterscotch envelop a spirit that displays rich fruit flavors of golden delicious apple, yellow fig, ripe nectarine, and candied ginger, all with a gravelly underpinning. The finish is long and spice-laden, exhibiting star-anise and clove."

"Stewed plum and horehound candy, and sizzling rye spice behind it...with sweet grassy spice, bitter rye grain as it progresses, and crackling sugar near the end, just before it all smooths into a savory layered finish. Exciting ride, great ending." -Whisky Advocate

"Pikesville does for ryes what Blanton’s Single Barrel does for bourbons; high quality, mass appeal, decent accessibility at a fair price. This is one of the best everyday ryes you can currently find on the shelf. Don’t hesitate to give this premium rye a try. "
