Mount Tabor Winery "Har" Chardonnay 2020 - [TP 91]
About the Winery:
The Tabor story goes back over a hundred years to when philanthropist Baron Rothschild invested in the future of Israel as the Jewish nation. He supported Jews settling in the Holy Land and financed many of their efforts, including the Carmel Winery in Zikhron Yaakov. In 1901 Rothschild supported the establishment of a small town at the foot of Mount Tabor which has always had a connection to grape cultivation. But it never really got off the ground in a big way until 2000, when the Tabor Winery was established by four families in Kfar Tabor. They each had their own vineyards in the village but had previously sold all their grapes to other wineries.
In 2005, CBC Israel (the Coca Cola Company of Israel, distributor and producer of beverages of all kinds including wines, beers, and alcohol) decided to invest in a winery. Recognizing Tabor's potential, CBC purchased the winery. One would think that this acquisition would industrialize the winery and create mass-produced, uninspiring wine. The exact opposite has happened for Tabor; in fact, Tabor has had the luxury of purchasing the highest standard and state-of-the-art equipment without compromising on their family business values.
Since then, the winery has grown dramatically and is now one of Israel's most important wineries. Today, Tabor winery produces a full spectrum of wines in five different series.
About this Wine:
Har, which means 'mountain,' is named for Mount Tabor, the location of the winery. It is the name for Tabor's entry-level series of red, white and sparkling wines which are fruit forward for everyday pleasure with clear varietal expressions.
Kosher wine is notoriously expensive. Producing it requires strict standards and certification. Tabor Winery offers world-class wine but it is kosher and affordable, true QPR wine, or Quality-to-Price-Ratio. This means the wine is of high quality, but the price is low.
100% Chardonnay, harvested from three vineyards planted in rich limestone soils in the Lower Galilee. The wine went through cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, without the influence of barrel or malolactic fermentation in order to allow the natural grape characteristics and freshness to shine through. Light and fruity, this classic unoaked Chardonnay is full of flavors and aromas, melon, peach, pear with hints of tropical fruit. The wine has a pale straw color and moderate acidity leading to a pleasant enduring finish.

"The 100% Garnacha 2016 Figaro Tinto Calatayud is a smoking value and is another red brought in by Kysela that knocks it out of the park on the value scale. Bright berry fruits, dried herbs, earth, and a touch of spice all flow to a medium-bodied, rounded, fleshy red that has loads of upfront charm and accessibility. It’s not going to make old bones, but as a house red to enjoy over the coming couple of years, it’s hard to beat." - Jeb Dunnuck (3/27/2019)
Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Spicy plum and berry aromas are earthy prior to a snappy, slightly shearing palate. Tomato and red fruit flavors hold their energy on a smacking, gritty finish with pop. This Garnacha delivers value and quality. Michael Schachner" - (12/1/2019)

Santi Solane Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2016
(Veneto, Italy)
(Veneto, Italy)
About the Winery:
Santi Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a “ripasso” method Valpolicella; meaning that following primary fermentation the wine sees a second fermentation with the addition of Amarone grapes and skins, creating a richer, more complex and more exciting final wine.
Terroir: Santi Solane is sourced from estate vineyards within the original Valpolicella appellation of Valpolicella Classico.
Vinification: When primary fermentation is complete in early winter, grapes, skins and pomace from Santi’s Amarone are added to the vats. The additional sugars from the Amarone trigger a second fermentation which adds additional layers of complexity, rich fruit and structure. The wine is blended and then aged for more 3-5 months in small oak cask followed by an additional 12 months in larger neutral casks prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes:
The Solane Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore is a wine strongly linked to the territory and therefore of great character. It has a beautiful and intense ruby color; the typical, clean and complex scent has intense hints of fresh red fruit and maraschino jam, wrapped in hints of vanilla. The taste is warm and frank, balanced, with an elegant spicy and toasted bottom. It has a strong personality thanks to the distinct elegance and subtlety of perfumes, to the flavor and persistence in the mouth. Great and pleasant when young, it improves over time.
Food Pairing:
Accompanies cold cuts, medium-aged cheeses, soups, and lighter meats

APPELLATION: California – Napa, Sonoma, Lake County, Mendocino, Lodi, Monterey, Santa Barbara
BARREL: 100% Stainless Steel
Vineyard Notes: Fruit from vineyards in Napa and Sonoma add good flavor, minerality, and complexity. Lake County fruit adds citrus notes while grapes from Mendocino lends color and fruit-forward flavors. Fruit from the warmer Lodi appellation adds concentration to the wine while vineyards in Monterey offer tropical aromatics and well-balanced acidity. Within Santa Barbara, fruit from the cooler, marine-influenced vineyards add crisp, clean minerality and well-balanced acidity while fruit from vineyards located more inland experience morning coastal fog and afternoon winds, adding to the wine’s tropical notes. Blending fruit from these varied growing regions across California creates a balanced, food-friendly wine

Our 2022 California Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, guava, and passionfruit with citrus notes. On the palate, the wine opens with tropical fruit flavors followed by crisp, refreshing acidity on the mid-palate and notes of tangerine and grapefruit on the long, clean balanced finish.
