Tasting Note:

Elegant, precise and lively, the Chambolle Musigny from Domaine Georges Roumier releases aromas of redcurrants and cherries with very light floral touches reminiscent of spring flowers.

Terroir:

Spread over an area of 152 hectares, the Chambolle Musigny vineyard is located at the exit of the Chambolle valley below a limestone hillside. Halfway between the prestigious vineyards of Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot, the clay-limestone soils of Chambolle Musigny allow the vines to reveal wines often described as "feminine". The Chambolle Musigny appellation extends in an arc joining its two Grands Crus: Musigny (to the south) and Bonnes Mares (to the north). 5 vintages make up the Chambolle Musigny from Domaine Georges Roumier. The grapes come from numerous plots scattered throughout the Chambolle Musigny appellation area.

Winemaking & Aging:

Manual harvesting and sorting
- Destemming (70 to 90%)
- Punching down during grape fermentation
- Fermentation using indigenous yeasts only
- No enzymatic application
- The wines are neither fined nor filtered
- The wines are kept for 14 months in 2 to 8 year old oak barrels
- 10 to 15% new barrels

Ratings & Reviews

90-92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes around 50% stems imparting a pleasant pepperiness on the nose. It includes a mixture of well-defined red and black fruit with plenty of character. The palate is fleshy and medium-bodied with a licorice-tinged entry and good density on the finish. This is utterly delicious. (Drink between 2026-2038)" – Neal Martin (Jan 2025)

92-94 Points - Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:
"An even crimson purple. An interesting mix of floral notes plus a little suggestion of chocolate on the nose. The whole bunches (around 50%) add spice at the back, and some of the classic crushed strawberries in a slightly darker register this year. Overall, the wine is harmonious and charming. Drink from 2028-2034." Jasper Morris (Nov 2024)
