Notes from the Winemaker:
Planted in 2000 on deep clay loam over shale
Destemmed to 2-5 ton open-top fermenters. Native fermentation begins after 4-5 days.
Gently extracted using punch down and pumpovers.
Pressed to tank and quickly settled before barreling down to 30% new French oak
Raised for 12-14 months, racked and blended, then returned to barrel for a few months before bottling

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Antonio Galloni:
"The 2016 Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard is laced with expressive red fruit character. The 33% whole clusters add aromatic nuance and lift without overpowering the wine. Rose petal, mint, orange peel, and pomegranate develop in the glass, adding perfume, silkiness and sheer appeal. Bright, chalky notes give the wine energy to match its somewhat taut, linear feel. There is so much to admire in this vivid, impeccable Pinot from Tyler." (Sep 2018)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard offers up earthy notes of red cherries, plums and raspberries that mingle with nuances of sandalwood and raw cocoa. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, ample and velvety, with juicy acids and seamless structure. The finish is long and savory. This is another of the more reserved wines in Willett's 2016 portfolio, so forget about it in the cellar for a year or two." -William Kelley (Apr 2018)
