About the winery:
A contemporary creation, Champagne Thiénot was founded in 1985 by negociant Alain Thienot. Part of the Alain Thiénot Group, owner of brands such as Canard-Duchêne, Joseph Perrier and Marie Stuart, it is based in Taissy, near from Reims and currently owns more than 30 hectare (74 acres) of vineyards. About half of these are in Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, including Grand Cru Ay, Le Mesnil, and Avize; 1er Cru Dizy, Cumières, Pierry and Tauxières. About 60% of the grapes used are from their own vineyards. Thiénot also partners with growers among 20 different Cru vineyard sites, with long term contracts to supplement the supply of estate grapes.
The Brut is a blend of the three classic Champagne grape varieties and forms the signature Thienot style of finesse, fruit and freshness, offering springtime notes, magnificent balance and a lingering finish.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
"The NV Thienot Champagne Brut tastes like a baby Krug with its rich, nutty, powerful style. Ample apple and citrus fruits as well as a touch of minerality develop with time in the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a awesome texture, and a great finish. This cuvée is 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and the balance Pinot Meunier, mostly from Grand Cru sites, and it was brought up all in stainless steel. The dosage is 9 grams per liter." (3/27/2019)

91 Points & Editor's Choice - Wine Enthusiast:
"This finely balanced wine is both crisp and fruity. Zingy acidity and lemon crispness are contrasted by riper apple and pear fruitiness. On the drier side of Brut and with lively mousse, this is a great wine for an apéritif." – Roger Voss (12/1/2017

91 Points - Wine Spectator:
“Lightly toasty and mouthwatering, this creamy Champagne offers flavors of baked pear and lemon curd, with rich hints of coffee liqueur and pastry cream. Balanced, showing minerally smoke and spice nuances on the finish. Drink now through 2021. 15,000 cases made.” – AN (Nov 2017

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Plenty of bright, ripe-fruit aromas here – rich peaches, pears and grilled almonds. The palate has a very composed feel and a deeper, savory attitude with light honey and grilled nuts. A lot of character for the first cuvée. 2013 base with 45 per cent reserve wine." (July 2018)
