Notes from the Winemaker:

The estate’s more forward Chianti version, from 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo – that most classic of Classico formulas. The vineyard’s name comes from ‘scasso’, stony soil, which makes this terrain difficult to cultivate but fabulous in terms of fruit and concentration. An appealing, delightful, well balanced red with lively notes of raspberry and blueberry, and excellent structure.

Ratings & Reviews

Antonio Galloni:
"The 2012 Chianti Classico Scassino is plump, juicy and highly expressive, with lovely depth and plenty of forward fruit. Crushed flowers, raspberries, vanilla and a hint of spice meld together on the sweet, open-knit finish. Drink this perfumed, silky Chianti Classico over the next few years." - Antonio Galloni (July 2015)

Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo, this offers a fragrance of woodland berry, iris and pressed violet. The easy-drinking palate doles out red cherry, crushed raspberry and a hint of baking spice alongside soft, loose knit tannins. Enjoy soon." - Kerin O’Keefe (9/1/2015)
