Notes from the Winemaker:
Saturated, ruby red color in the glass. A big, round, juicy nose of black cherries, chocolate and warm spices leads the way. Very bright on the palate, offering a generous mouthful of black cherries, figs, clove and a hint of thyme. Rich, but eminently balanced, the flavors develop nicely through a finish that is long and structured. Quite expressive as a young wine, and while generous now, will impress as it develops with even greater complexity.
“This has a seam of chalk dust infusing the red berry fruit, mixed with rose petal and iris scents. This is well defined and earthy. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, a little more structured than its Ribbon Ridge counterpart, with fine salinity towards the bay leaf-tinged finish.â€
This bottling represents vineyard sources exclusively from within the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Made in very limited quantities, these “Origins†series wines are reflections of the personality-driven, regional characteristics from which they hail. Sheltered by a rain shadow created by the Coast Range, this is a “horseshoe†shaped area of rolling hills surrounding the towns of Carlton and Yamhill. The soils here are coarse-grained, ancient marine sediments layered over siltstone and sandstone.

Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Bright red. Heady red berry liqueur and floral pastille scents are enlivened by hints of blood orange, allspice and smoky minerals. Stains the palate with sweet, concentrated raspberry and cherry cola flavors that become livelier and spicier with air. Concentrated yet lithe in style, with no excess fat. Delivers excellent finishing clarity and silky tannins that build in harmony with the intense fruit." - Josh Raynolds (Jan 2018)
