Notes from the Winemaker:
Saturated, ruby red color in the glass. A big, round, juicy nose of black cherries, chocolate and warm spices leads the way. Very bright on the palate, offering a generous mouthful of black cherries, figs, clove and a hint of thyme. Rich, but eminently balanced, the flavors develop nicely through a finish that is long and structured. Quite expressive as a young wine, and while generous now, will impress as it develops with even greater complexity.
“This has a seam of chalk dust infusing the red berry fruit, mixed with rose petal and iris scents. This is well defined and earthy. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, a little more structured than its Ribbon Ridge counterpart, with fine salinity towards the bay leaf-tinged finish.â€
This bottling represents vineyard sources exclusively from within the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Made in very limited quantities, these “Origins†series wines are reflections of the personality-driven, regional characteristics from which they hail. Sheltered by a rain shadow created by the Coast Range, this is a “horseshoe†shaped area of rolling hills surrounding the towns of Carlton and Yamhill. The soils here are coarse-grained, ancient marine sediments layered over siltstone and sandstone.

Ratings & Reviews
92+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014 Yamhill-Carlton District Pinot Noir, which is principally sourced from Gran Moraine, includes 20% whole cluster fruit and is aged in 30% new French oak. This has a seam of chalk dust infusing the red berry fruit, mixed with rose petal and iris scents. This is well defined and earthy. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red fruit, a little more structured than its Ribbon Ridge counterpart, with fine salinity towards the bay leaf-tinged finish. It does not quite possess the persistence that would merit it a higher evaluation, however, it still constitutes a well-crafted, quite "punchy" Pinot Noir that should repay time in bottle." - Neal Martin (29th Jun 2016)
92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Vivid red. Lively, intensely perfumed raspberry, Asian spice and potpourri scents are complicated by hints of woodsmoke and white pepper. Silky in texture and alluringly sweet; juicy acidity provides spine and lift to juicy red fruit liqueur, spicecake and rose pastille flavors. This concentrated but nervy Pinot finishes with suave, even tannins, excellent focus and very persistent floral character." - Josh Raynolds (Dec 2016)
