Notes from the Winemaker:
Our 2014 Chardonnay has lifted aromatics of ripe pear, apple skin and key lime, minerals and a hint of banana. Crispy entry with loads of granny smith apple notes and hints of papaya. Very dry on the palate with lovely mineral character and lime zest. Medium bodied with balanced acidity. finishes rich and briskly at the same time. A nice stylistic reflection of hypothetical blend of our 2012 and 2013 classic chardonnays.
91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Light bright yellow. A highly aromatic nose displays ripe melon, peach skin, pear, smoky lees and vanilla, plus a hint of tarragon in the background. Deep and sappy on the palate, offering juicy orchard fruit and honeydew flavors given lift and spine by juicy acidity. Spreads out very nicely on the long, smoky finish, where the mineral note returns." - Josh Raynolds (Jan 2017)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
The North Valley Vineyards 2014 Chardonnay comes from the Willamette Valley and Eola Hills, matured in 45% French oak and 55% stainless steel barrels. It has a light bouquet with distant lime flower and pear scents that gradually gain intensity. The palate is well balanced with a slight viscosity on the entry, hints of praline and butterscotch here with a twist of sour lemon on the finish. This should drink nicely over the next 4-6 years." - Neal Martin (29th Jun 2016)
Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Taut and crisp, with a lean texture and lively pineapple and grapefruit flavors that persist on the focused, spicy finish. Drink now through 2019. 900 cases made." – HS (Nov 30, 2016)
