Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Some riper fruits here, moving through green-melon into light, white-peach aromas. The palate adds an edge of lemon. A smooth array of fleshy fruit to close. Drink now." - (8 Jul, 2018)

Wine Enthusiast Magazine:

"Whiffs of dusty mineral and smoke introduce this dry, medium-bodied white. The palate offers delicate apple and pear flavors accented by hazelnut notes and fresh white grapefruit-like acidity. A spry, neatly balanced wine to enjoy now–2020." - Anna Lee C. Iijima (7/1/2018)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Plump and friendly, with a mix of creamed melon and peach flavors lined with green almond and salted butter notes. Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier. Drink now. 7,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported." - JM (Region Southern Rhône)

Nautilus Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Nautilus Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2020
(Marlborough, New Zealand) - [JS 92] [WS 92] [VM 90] [DM 90] [WA 90]

Notes from the Winemaker:
The fruit was machine harvested at night or in the cool of the morning, gently crushed and pressed then fermented with a variety of aromatic yeast strains in stainless steel tanks - the sole aim being to reflect and preserve the flavours and aromas grown in the vineyard. 10% of the juice fermentations were started with a non-saccharomyces yeast and 3% of the blend was barrel fermented. After fermentation, the wine was kept in contact with the lees for five months. This classic technique enhances creaminess and integrates flavours.

Tasting Notes

Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc displays intense lifted aromas of citrus peel, blackcurrant buds and fresh herbs. The palate introduces a delightful lime/citrus based mouth-watering intensity and finishes with a strong textural component.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - James Suckling:
"Very attractive peach and passion-fruit notes with fresh lime, too. The palate has a smooth, fleshy feel with succulent passion-fruit and lime flavors. Good depth and concentration, too." (Oct 2020)
** Previously was in "$15 Wines that taste like $50" **

92 Points & Smart Buy - Wine Spectator:
"Vibrant, with fresh pomelo, ginger and lemon zest flavors that reverberate at the core. Details of lemon verbena, celery leaf and saline linger on the long, expressive and mouthwatering finish." - MW (Jun 2021)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Marked by ebullient scents of passion fruit and cut herbs, the 2020 Sauvignon Blanc layers those atop a solid base of grapefruit citrus. It's medium-bodied, with a mouthfeel enriched by five months on the lees and a long, silky finish. It's a fine, elegant example of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc for drinking over the next couple of years." - Joe Czerwinski (Apr 2021)

90 Points - Vinous Media:
"There's an impressive sense of balance and substance on the midpalate of this wine, which offers classic Sauvignon flavors of gooseberry, passion fruit, pineapple and grapefruit, but the aromatic flamboyance is reined in; this is mid-volume, not boom-box Sauvignon. The fine, balanced acidity and dry finish make this a great “session” Sauvignon – i.e., you can have a third glass. Drinking window: 2020 - 2024." - Rebecca Gibb (Nov 2020)

90 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Quite a grassy, citrussy style of Sauvignon Blanc, with more of the perky gooseberry and nettle side of the flavour spectrum than overt tropical fruit. There's sharp sherbet lemon acidity running throughout, turning more creamy on the finish. Perfect with a Friday fish supper." - Tina Gella (Feb 2021)

Cantina di Terlano Pinot Grigio Alto Adige 2018
(Trentino Alto Adige, Italy) - [JS 92] [WS 90, #87 Top 100 of 2019] [WA 90]

Notes from the Winemaker:

Terlano Vineyards is particularly renowned for its white wines, which are fruity, with big body, full complexity and longevity. Remarkable heights are reached by the gaious Pinot Blanc and the wonderfully aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, followed by the harmonious and refined Chardonnay and Cuvée e Terlano.

Vineyards for this concentrated Pinot Grigio rest at 1,000 feet A.S.L. in the sandy, easy warming porphyric gravel and calcareous soil high above the town of Terlan. Fermentation is temperature-controlled and the wine is aged on the lees for 6 months.

Tasting Notes

It is light straw in color with pleasant aromas of ripe melon and freshly picked MacIntosh apples. Crisp and light on the palate with lovely pineapple, Bartlett pear and apple flavors that harmoniously intermingle with orange zest and almond notes. The finish lingers with spicy tropical fruit. Pairs equally well with light seafood dinners and richer cream-based sauces.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - James Suckling:
"Sliced apples and cream, as well as hints of sliced pineapple on the nose. Medium body and a layered, creamy texture with green apples and limes on the aftertaste." - (20 Apr, 2019)

90 Points & #87 Top 100 Wines of 2019 - Wine Spectator:
"A creamy, light-bodied white, with mouthwatering acidity driving a finely knit range of Honeycrisp apple, Marcona almond and orchard blossom flavors, showing a rich and tangy streak of salinity that lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2023. 9,167 cases made, 8,000 cases imported." —AN

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Cantina Terlano shows a Midas Touch, even with a workhorse grape like this. The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Tradition is a vibrant and zesty expression from Northern Italy. The wine clearly shows the high-altitude characteristics of mountain flowers, citrus, white peach and Granny Smith apple. This slightly cooler vintage delivers a sharp and streamlined approach. Serve it with the local half-moon ravioli known as Schlutzkrapfen, filled with apple and speck. Some 100,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner (11th Jul 2019)
