Notes from the Winemaker:.
Intense ruby red color. Dark fruits of black cherry, blackberry, plum and with sweet spices. Elegantly structured with a fresh acidity and elegant, smooth, tannins.
Grapes gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°- 29°C; maceration for 10-15 days.

"There’s something ethereal in the nose with flowers, cherries, strawberries and shitake mushrooms. Full body. This grows on the palate with super tannin and fruit structure. Full in weight but refined, the accessible palate offers dried cherry, black tea, star anise and a dollop of vanilla alongside polished tannins before a minty finish. "Pertimali's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is currently understated and youthfully poised, as peppery herbs are joined by young strawberry, with crushed stone minerality and earth tones. On the palate, silky textures usher in a ripe set of red fruits, carried well by juicy acids, and giving way to sweet spice and pretty inner floral notes. The finish is long yet maintains the wine’s fresh and vibrant persona, as hints of fine tannin mingle with wild berries and a pinch of residual acids, making the mouth water. The 2015 may not be a Brunello for the ages, but it sure is very easy to like today. It’s a beautiful wine. " Eric Guido (Apr 2020)

"The Pertimali - Livio Sassetti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino feels too ripe and evolved. It opens flat. To a fault, this wine seems to have absorbed much of the vintage heat and sunshine, and you taste it in the heavy and syrupy fruit. The bouquet opens to dried blackberry and figs with scorched earth and toasted spice. The wine sees fermentation in stainless steel and then rests in large Slavonian oak casks for three years. Fruit is sourced from the estate's 12 hectares of vines that are planted at 300 meters above sea level, with soils rich in clay and marine fossils. Some 70,000 bottles were made. The wine was bottled in August 2019 and was released commercially in January 2020. It does not appear to have much aging potential left." - Monica Larner (31st Jan 2020)
