About the Winery:
Fattoria San Giusto a Rentennano is a famous, historical Tuscan wine estate known for both Chianti Classico and high-quality, single-variety IGT wines. Located 15km to the northeast of the Renaissance city of Siena, the winery is owned and run by the Martini di Cigala family in the village of Gaiole.

San Giusto a Rentennano's vineyards have been certified organic since 2006.

About this Wine:
Produced from Sangiovese (95%) and Canaiolo (5%) grapes harvested by hand at perfect ripeness and fermented in enamelled concrete and / or stainless steel tanks for about 14 days, during which various pumping over and punching down are carried out. After racking, the marc is pressed in a horizontal press and the press is returned to its wine. The malolactic fermentation is favored by the heating of the room where the wines stop. Decanted a few times (racking), it ages in barrels, 500 Lt oak tonneaux, for about 10-12 months. Once bottled, it ages 6 months before being marketed.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The organic San Giusto a Rentennano 2019 Chianti Classico is another excellent buy from a tight group of iconic Tuscan wine estates. This vintage, made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo, is pure and tonic in character. There are clearly etched aromas of blueberry, wild cherry, limestone and crushed stone. These are essential aromas to any traditional expression of Chianti Classico, and this wine delivers them with terrific simplicity and balance. Fruit is sourced from across a 30-hectare vineyard with south-facing exposures." - Monica Larner (10/7/2021)

91+ Points - Vinous Media:

"The 2019 Chianti Classico is a deep, fleshy wine with a good deal of tannin that will need time to soften. The San Giusto Classico has a track record of aging very well. I have no doubt that will be the case here as well. Time in the glass brings out Sangiovese aromatics, but readers will have to patient here. This classically austere Chianti Classico needs time to be at its very best." - Antonio Galloni (9/2021)
