About This Wine:
After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and soft-crushed before undergoing maceration for about 15 days, depending on the vintage. The merlot and cabernet sauvignon both undergo fermentation during the skin contact period. The wine is then transferred into new French oak barrique, where it ages and matures for 24 months until the blending of the two wines.
What Does It Taste Like?
Intense ruby color with exuberant perfumes of fruit, wood, and blackberry. Also presenting underlining aromas of licorice and light tones of coffee. Warm and long in the mouth with interlacing softly balanced tannins.
Ratings & Reviews
90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"A fine red is the 1999 Tato (a barrique-aged blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot). Its opaque ruby/purple color and sweet nose of graphite, black currants, and vanilla are accompanied by a medium to full-bodied wine with good underlying acidity, ripe tannin, and a nicely layered mouthfeel as well as finish. With airing, spice box and cedar components emerge. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2015." - Robert Parker (Oct 2001)
