Notes from the Winemaker:
A grape variety ideally suited for Oakville, the Samantha's Cabernet Sauvignon is a selection of Rudd Oakville Estate blocks that yield grapes of depth and character that craft a wine inviting drinkability and conviviality. An expression of how a world-class grape variety can perform when diligently farmed in one of the best parts of Oakville.
"The 2014 Samantha's is cut from the same mold as the 2013, just denser, with slightly less tannin and a reticent character, but it is loaded with upside potential. Give this wine 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 25 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Dec 2016)
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Coming all from estate fruit and made from 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Samantha's Estate is a charming, ripe, sexy beauty that's loaded with notions of blackcurrants, spicy oak, and lead pencil-like aromas and flavors. Ripe, opulent, and much more forward and sexy than the Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, drink it over the coming 15-20 years." (Dec 2017)
93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Samantha's is another impeccable wine from Rudd. Stylistically, the Samantha's is more supple and open-knit than the Estate Red. Dark stone fruits, mocha, torrefaction and chocolate give the wine its sumptuous, racy personality. It should drink well with minimal cellaring." (Dec 2016)
