About the Domaine:
Roland Lavantureux founded the domaine in 1978 in the town of Lignorelles, about four miles northwest of Chablis. Today, his two sons have taken over the Domaine: Arnaud is in charge of the vineyards and cellar, while David takes the lead in marketing and sales. In addition to making a stunning Chablis, the Lavantureux family also bottles a mouth-watering Petit Chablis, which, depending on the vintage, can easily rival their more highly pedigreed bottling—only proving the unwavering consistency of the Lavantureux family that has kept our relationship with them so strong for over thirty-five years.

The Lavantureux wines display show-stopping nerve, to be enjoyed as easily before dinner as they are with a piece of grilled fish or oysters-on-the-half-shell. These wines drink as honestly as the people who make them; they are staff favorites year after year.

About this Wine:

From their sixty-year-old vines, brothers Arnaud and David Lavantureux have captured the boiled-down essence of Kimmeridgian limestone in this stunning bottling. Everything about this cuvée, from the delicately briny scent of slick oyster shells to the concentrated, pristinely focused sensation on the palate, is a demonstration of why this domaine has become one of Chablis’ very best. That they can channel razor-sharp freshness with such silky-fine touch is a remarkable—and positively mouthwatering—feat.

Fermented in stainless steel
60% aged in 3 to 5 year old barrels and 40% in stainless steel

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Decanter:
From south-west facing vines in the hills around Lignorelles, the vines were planted in the 1960's and cover 3ha. The wine is fermented in steel tanks, with 60% aged for 10-12 on lees in tank, and 40% in older wood. Doesn't have quite the richness of the Vauprin Chablis but this is still a very fine, pure expression of 2021. Lovely acidity and mineral notes compliment the grapefruit characters and ripe pear fruit on the palate. Complex and classy. No hurry to drink this."

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy:
"This cuvée had the highest degrees of the vintage chez Lavantureux. Fresh pale yellow. Good plums on the nose, very joyous, a wine at ease with itself. An extra degree of succulence and more acidity too, very well handled. Half has been made in barrel but there is no evident wood effect. Drink from 2024-2028."
