Producer Notes:

Our goal is to have only "old" vineyards. The youngest were 35 years and older , the Beaune 1er Cru Strikes have 104 years . Thus, the plants roots go very deep into the ground to tap the best of the terroir. This also allows a high resistance of the vines during heat wave years ; Vine finding water to over 4 meters underground. Among our best vines , we do a mass selection that we use for replantages young vines , which enables us to guarantee the future of each plot we charge. We treat the vines with a mixture of copper and sulfur to fight against Miliou . We got this year the BIO label, result of work biodynamic respectful of the vine since 2006.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Closed up and just hinting at its great potential, this wine is showing tannins and a dry, solid core. Slowly it reveals delicious, opulent red berry fruits and concentrated texture. It needs a lot of time before drinking; wait until 2019." - Roger Voss (7/1/2015)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Lush with black cherry, plum and spice flavors, this red delivers plenty of fruit on a solid structure. Tobacco and mineral elements add interest as this glides to a long, spice-tinged finish. Best from 2018 through 2026. 50 cases made." - BS (Web Only - 2015)

89 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A ripe and really quite pretty nose features a variety of mostly red berry fruit scents that are complemented by soft earth, spice and game hints. There is excellent volume to the notably rich and suave medium-bodied flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration before terminating in a delicious, balanced and reasonably persistent finish. At present this is not particularly complex but the underlying material is certainly present for it to develop. As such note well that my purchase recommendation assumes that this will be held for a minimum of 5 to 7 years." - (Apr 15, 2015)

Stephen Tanzer:
"Full medium red. Smoky aromas of strawberry, raspberry, mocha and brown spices complicated by iron and pepper nuances. Surprisingly lush and round on the palate, showing enticing sweetness and a slightly exotic quality to its red berry and spice flavors. A distinctly easygoing, ripe village wine with smooth tannins and good length." - Stephen Tanzer (March 2015)
