Notes from the Winemaker:
Color: garnet red. A delicate and persistent bouquet with traces of licorice, mint and Lebanese cedar pine. Mineral, full flavored, warm and agreeable tannic.

Notes on wine and food pairing:
The small Conca vineyard (6900 mq) is the hollow of the Abbey of Annunziata (our Lady of the Annunciation). It's one of the oldest sub zones of the entire Barolo District, an area already appreciated by the Benedictine Monks starting from the XII century. It's blue marl soil and the particular microclimate give a good power and long life.
Growing here is the purple red "Anemone Coronaria" flower, a one-of-a-kind rarity in the entire Langhe region. A great wine for important dishes, red meats on the spit or grilled, game, "grande cuisine" white and red meat dishes and aged cheeses.

Vinification:
Destemmed and crushed
Thermo-controlled fermentation at a temperature of 30°C (85°F)
Average time of maceration: 7 - 10 days
Malolactic Fermentation in November in oak barrelst
Aging: two years in French oak barriques and barrels of 25hl

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Floral, berry and white pepper aromas introduce this elegant red, with flavors of cherry, orange peel, grass and mineral in harmony with the sleek profile. Firms up on the finish, yet remains juicy, giving a lasting impression of sweet fruit. Best from 2022 through 2038." — B.S (Oct. 2, 2019)

94+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Pietro Ratti and his family have created a truly beautiful expression from the Conca cru in La Morra. The 2015 Barolo Conca is more austere and closed initially compared to many of its peers from nearby vineyard sites. But you still get a sense of the profound depth and power of this warm vintage. This wine has the textural richness and fiber that is typical of this vintage with a more structured and sophisticated inner personality. A mere 3,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner (28th Jun 2019)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Aromas of rose, exotic spice, camphor and woodland berry shape the nose. Focused and linear, the elegant palate offers juicy raspberry, strawberry compote and star anise alongside taut, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2021–2027. Kerin O’Keefe" - (10/1/2019)

94 Points - James Suckling:

"This is very attractive with fragrant, spicy red-cherry and strawberry aromas, as well as a gently tarry edge and a new-leather note. The palate has a beautifully ripe, plush and approachable, fleshy core of sweet red-fruit flavor. Supple finish. Drink or hold." - (9 Jan, 2019)
