Notes from the Winemaker:

Located north of the Carneros Highway, 2 ¾ miles west of Hyde Vineyard, the terrain here is more rolling than that of Hyde, the soil lighter and more friable. This year’s bottling is the fifth to come entirely from B-block, planted in 2001 to a Wente selection from the Hyde Vineyard, so the vines were eleven years old this vintage and further developing their maturity. Hudson Vineyard wines tend to a more muscular, masculine character—broad-shouldered, if you will.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Ramey's 2011 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is beautifully layered and succulent in the glass. Butter, almonds and hazelnuts all add complexity as this enveloping, resonant Chardonnay shows off its personality. I very much like the interplay of textural richness and pure tension here." -Antonio Galloni (Feb 14)

92 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Vivid gold. Smoky, mineral-laced pear and nectarine scents are complemented by deeper notes of smoky lees and iodine. At once rich and energetic on the palate, offering intense orchard and pit fruit flavors and a bracing jolt of Meyer lemon. Picks up an exotic tropical fruit quality on the finish, which clings with outstanding mineral-driven persistence. Showing more fleshiness than the Hyde right now, with its ripe fruit taking the lead." -Josh Rayonlds (May/ June 2014)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

"The 2011 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is a brilliant effort in this tough vintage. Gorgeous aromas of hazelnuts, caramelized citrus and orange blossoms are present in this medium-bodied, richly fruity white. With adequate acidity as well as an up-front, precocious, quick-to-mature style, it should be consumed over the next 3-4 years." -Robert Parker (Dec 2013)
