About the Winery:

Produttori del Barbaresco is a legendary cooperative founded in the late nineteenth century and is the benchmark for the region's gorgeous wines.

Here's what Wine Advocate's Monica Larner had to say about this winery:
"This important estate has been making the cru selections since 1978 and the house philosophy is to make them all, or not make them at all. General Manager Aldo Vacca says the co-operative counts 54 members, of which four joined the group within the past three years. Produttori del Barbaresco counts a total of 100 hectares (for an average annual bottle production of 500,000). Each individual farm is very small in size.

The cooperative's access to many small vineyards allows Produttori del Barbaresco to take advantage of the best grapes at the best prices.

Ratings & Reviews

97 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Violet, new leather, perfumed berry and a whiff of face powder mingle together with camphor on this fragrant red. On the structured, polished palate, taut, refined tannins support succulent Morello cherry, mulberry and licorice. It's already tempting, but hold for even more complexity. Drink 2022–2027." - Kerin O’Keefe (1/1/2020)

94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is starting to shut down in bottle, but the signatures are still very much present, namely acidity and structure that give depth while also providing terrific balance to the generosity of the year. The Pajè was much more expressive when I tasted it a few months ago." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2020)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A beam of fresh cherry and plum plays out over a line of earth, tar and licorice in this round and open red, with well-integrated tannins for support. Shows excellent balance and length and should be approachable soon. Best from 2023 through 2040. 833 cases made, 175 cases imported." - BS (September 2, 2020)

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè shows a heavier center of gravity (compared to the Pora) with thicker concentration of dark fruit at the middle. The jump is not big, but it is noticeable, like one step up a ladder. This wine produces more ferrous earth and iron ore with plenty of dark fruit. The mouthfeel is less complicated and shorter too in this vintage, although the tannins feel firm and prominent. Between Pora and Pajè, I'd give a slight edge to Pora. Some 10,000 bottles were released." - Monica Larner (Jul 2020)
