Method was founded in 2016 by Master Sommelier Ian Cauble and winemaker Trevor Sheehan. Longtime friends, they bonded over their mutual admiration for the classic wines of the world. Inspired by their favorite Bordeaux, Ian and Trevor created Method to represent the best of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at exceptional value. Method is a combination of Estate vineyards and superlative lots of purchased fruit sourced from across the Valley. The result is a bold Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with rich fruit and a balanced oak profile which overperforms its price-point year after year.
Notes from the Producer:
The diverse sources of this Cabernet Sauvignon exemplify the Napa Valley terroir. The strong, traditional bouquet layers notes of ripe black cherry, dark cassis, aromatic violets, and savory curry spices rooted by earthy undertones. With clean fruit throughout the palate, this medium-bodied wine has well-structured tannins balanced by a nuance of toffee and caramel oak influence.
Varietal Composition:
90% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Petit Verdot from organic St. Helena single-vineyard
Cooperage:
18 Months in 50% New French Oak & 50% American New Oak
14.5% ABV
Ratings & Reviews
"A structured and powerful wine with blackcurrant, dark chocolate and hazelnut. Crunchy seeds. Flowers. It’s full and juicy. Plenty of fruit and a fresh finish. Clearly shows the excellence of the vintage with the pure fruit. Drink or hold." - James Suckling, (3/23)
"An open, racy cabernet, this has the cool feel of stone in a deep well, that tannic depth completely filled by ripe plum fruit. Brighter notes of cherries and cranberries emerge with air, and the wine retains its lively feel, suggesting it will improve over the next several years in bottle." - JG (6/22)
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Method Napa Valley is based on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot, all from Napa Valley. Its ruby/purple hue is followed by a spicy, complex, incredibly satisfying Cabernet revealing lots of mulled red and black fruits, medium to full body, velvety, soft tannins, and classic Napa Valley chocolate, tapenade, and flowery incense-like aromas and flavors. It brings plenty of sweet fruit yet stays nicely balanced and is undeniably delicious. Enjoy bottles over the coming 4-5 years or so. Drink 2023-2028." (5/22/23)
The Wine Independent:
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers notes of stewed black and red plums, juicy blackberries, and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of sauteed herbs and graphite. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock full of fruitcake and spicy nuances, with a lively line and soft, textured finish. Drink 2023-2028." -LPB (4/13/23)
