About the winery:
Giodo is made by esteemed consulting eonologist Carlo Ferrini (of Casanova di Neri and Castello di Brolio fame) from a tiny vineyard (about 1.5 hectares) that produces just 3,000 bottles (or 250 cases). Ferrini's fame is well-deserved: he was awarded "The Winemaker of the year" twice by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and has authored many 100-point Brunelli, too. Wine Spectator recently called him "one of Tuscany's great winemakers." He began producing Giodo in 2009.
About the Wine:
A deep red with a full bouquet of aromas of black cherries, and berries with sweet spices, nutmeg and eucalyptus. Silky tannins, crisp acidity and flavorful long finish. Full bodied, wonderful structure.
Grapes: 100% Sangiovese-from 16 different clones of the best Sangiovese vines
Aging: 14 to 18 months in barrels and 6 month in bottle
