About the Winery:
Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty established PlumpJack Winery in 1995, naming the property after one of Shakespeare's most memorable characters, Sir John "PlumpJack" Falstaff. PlumpJack's down-to-earth, fun-loving, irreverent nature shows in their wines. In 2005, John Conover, Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty founded CADE Estate Winery on Howell Mountain as a complement to the valley floor terroir of PlumpJack Winery. Like PlumpJack, CADE takes its name from Shakespeare, who used the term to refer to the wine casks -or cades- used to transport wine from Bordeaux to England in Elizabethan times. The Odette estate, located in Stag's Leap, was planted in 2015.
The Estate grapes were cold soaked for a period of 3-4 days and then fermented up to a maximum temperature of 94 degrees. The wines were drained off the skins after a total maceration of 7 – 12 days. The wine was then racked to barrel to undergo malolactic fermentation and to age. This wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels, 80% of which were new. The coopers used were primarily Sylvain, Taransaud, Cavin, and Nadalie. The cooperage is a blend of medium, medium-plus, and heavy toast barrels from a variety of forests. This blend of coopers, forests, and toasts lends the wine more layers and aromatic complexity.
Blend: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot

Tasting Notes
The nose of the 2019 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, exudes aromas of juicy blackberry, dark plum, boysenberry, and muddled raspberries, blended with notes of cardamom, cinnamon, molasses, and sage to create a gorgeous silky entry. It’s beautifully structured with finely integrated, velvety tannin, and an exceptionally long finish.Ratings & Reviews
96 Points - Vinous Media:"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a sumptuous, heady wine. It possesses tremendous richness and pure power from the outset. Inky, dark fruit, mocha, espresso, leather and licorice infuse the 2019 with notable character. This deep, potent Cabernet delivers the goods, big time." - Antonio Galloni (Jan 2022)
95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate showed brilliantly, with a ripe, sexy, full-bodied profile that’s just about impossible to resist. Deep purple-hued with lots of red, black, and blue fruits, it shows exotic notes of iron, orange blossom, and chocolate with time in the glass. These all carry to a perfectly balanced, layered 2019 with velvety tannins and the richer style of the vintage front and center. A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, and the rest Malbec, it’s going to evolve for two decades. 2023 - 2043." (2/16/2023)
94 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with bold blackcurrant and blackberry preserves scents, plus hints of tilled soil, truffles and unsmoked cigars. The full-on opulent, rich, velvety palate is decadently laden with black fruit preserves and earthy accents, finishing long with a lively lift." - LPB (Oct 2021)
