Notes from the Winemaker:
L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor is above all a Peters' family project and adventure. This surprising and extraordinary wine goes against the current trend of single-vintage, single-vineyard Champagnes and is elaborated in accordance with the time-tested Champagne savoir-faire of multi-vintage blends. We called upon the talent and passion our son, Victor, to personalize the labels with his artwork enforcing the truly unique character of each and every bottle

Our ambition being to offer the greatest multi-vintage Champagne that we could possibly elaborate, we undertook the task of rigorous selection of the best vats of our Perpetual Reserve starting from the year 1988 (wines conserved in stainless steel and concrete vats and big casks) as well as the best wines chosen from the latest harvest from the terroir of Chétillon
. We then blended these wines together in almost equal quantities before bottling. The older vintages educate the younger wine which in turn enriches the whole with its specific character and youth

For the optimum development of this Grand Cru 100% Chardonnay champagne, we allow L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor to age for 6 years on a natural cork in our cellars

The code associated with each edition of these cuvées is in reference to the artist that Victor deeply admires and parodied (MK for Murakami) and the base year of the blend (09 for 2009, 10 for 2010, etc...).

Ratings & Reviews:

95 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2015 L’Étonnant Monsieur Victor Edition TB15 is impressive. In fact, it is the best of the 2015-base wines at Peters, and also shows how important blending can be in Champagne. For this bottling, Rodolphe Peters blends one tank of his Chetillons and a tank of Reserve Oubliée. The result is a Champagne of uncommon complexity and pedigree. Bright, floral and effusive, the 2015 base Monsieur Victor is just gorgeous. There is a feeling of translucence that is beguiling. Hints of dried flowers, marzipan, brioche and hazelnut linger on the delicate, super-refined finish. I would prefer to drink this on the earlier side, as the first signs of aromatic nuance are starting to settle in. Disgorged Dec 2021. Dosage is 4 grams per liter." - Antonio Galloni (Nov 2023)

95 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Based on the 2015 vintage, the NV L’Étonnant Monsieur Victor Edition 15 is a blend of the best vats of the Péters perpetual reserve with the best vats of Les Chétillons. It has long been Rodolphe Péters's intention to produce a blend that surpasses his vintage wines, yet I have generally preferred his vintaged Les Chétillons; in 2015, however, it is indeed the Étonnant Monsieur Victor that leads the portfolio. Unwinding in the glass with complex aromas of sweet orchard and stone fruits mingled with notions of spices, candied peel, freshly baked bread and toasted nuts, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and seamless, its deep core complemented by a pillowy mousse, concluding with a long, sapid finish." - William Kelley (Aug 2022)
