About this Champagne:
Spécial Club is a unique champagne that is only made in exceptional years. Each Spécial Club champagne is brought before an expert tasting panel, composed of oenologists and champagne growers, on two occasions. The first of these tasting tests is to approve the still base wine (vin clair) and the second to approve the champagne for the 'Spécial Club' label.

Beginning in the 2004 vintage, Bara has made a rosé version of the Spécial Club, adding about eight percent of red wine to the Club blend. This is the first rosé in the history of the Club Trésors de Champagne, and given the estate’s track record with both red wine and rosé, it seems fitting that Bara is the one to initiate it. Chantale Bara modestly credits the suitability of Bouzy’s warm terroir, saying, “Rosé is a specialty of Bouzy. The red wine of Bouzy is very well-known for rosé.

Paul Bara’s champagnes are classic examples of Bouzy, with a full body and an ample, fruity ripeness thanks to pinot noir grown on the village’s warm, south-facing slopes. At the same time they demonstrate an unusual refinement and finesse, and despite the absence of malolactic, these champagnes are rarely aggressive - they tend to feel velvety in their depth of fruit and seamless in their integration of components from beginning to end. All of Bara’s wines are pure Bouzy and 100-percent grand cru, since they own no other parcels

Tasting Notes:
The nose, dominated by a pastry note, expresses perfect maturity, with aromas of fruitcake and pound cake and touches of fruit jam (apricots and chutney). One can even detect a light spicy presence reminiscent of cardamom. In the mouth, it is full and generous, offering a garland of surprising flavors dominated by ripe and candied fruit that linger right up to the finish.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2015 Rosé Spécial Club offers notable depth and intensity in a rich, vinous style that is quite appealing. There is a bit of edginess that needs time to resolve, and yet there is so much to admire. Crushed flowers, chalk, mint and white pepper lend brilliance to this sculpted, vibrant Champagne. The only thing missing is perhaps a bit more continuity, as the finish narrows a bit, leaving a slight feeling of austerity on the close. Disgorged January 2022." - Antonio Galloni (May 2022)
