Notes from the Winemaker:
The purest expression of our vineyard. Result of the “selection massale” praticed by Secondo in 1953.

These plants are able as such to express in a deeper and complex way the unique terroir that characterize our hill, that has been guarded here.

Being a “Riserva” it is produced only when it is able to express something outstanding. Enabling us to seize between glass and cork the expression of one year of hard work, winds, rain and sun.

Laced with rose petals, spices, mint, sweet red berries. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is simply magnificent. At the same time, the power and breadth of Serraboella comes through in spades.

Wine-making:
Fermentations and macerations take place in vertical tanks, for 40 up to 50 days. Through the traditional Piedmontese technique of "steccatura" either called "submerged cap".

Fining take place in an Austrian oak "botte" for 36 months.

Ratings & Reviews

95+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"The 2011 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin Vigne Vecchie is just as stunning as it has always been. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2011 is laced with rose petals, spices, mint, sweet red berries. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is simply magnificent. At the same time, the power and breadth of Serraboella comes through in spades." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2014)

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"An intense red, with an amazingly fresh and vibrant structure. A beam of cherry cuts through, surrounded by balsamic elements of menthol, juniper and wild rosemary. Shows terrific length. Remains on the tannic side, but the freshness destines this for aging. Best from 2020 through 2040. 400 cases made." - BS (Apr 30, 2018)

92 Points - James Suckling:

"Aromas of ripe fruit and tar with hints of rose petal. Medium to full body, round and velvety tannins. Delicious now. Why wait? Yet the reserve has depth so you can wait." - (November 22, 2016)
