Notes from the Winemaker:
This wines inky dark red-violet color is full of brooding dark fruit aromas of blackberry-cassis and complex spices. There is a layering of aromas of espresso, baking spices, earth tones of bark/sous bois followed by hints of floral-lavender. The palate is soft, fleshy and bold with broad tannins that are both round and rich with fine grained texture. There are flavors of wild blackberries and finishes spicy hints of tobacco and sage. Best from 2013 to 2020.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The estate's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate La Presa One South is a bit ethereal and delicate in this vintage. Freshly cut flowers, violets, cinnamon, cloves and plums waft from the glass as this exceptionally elegant, perfumed Cabernet shows off its pedigree and class. Dark red cherries, flowers, mint and licorice all meld together on the expressive, delineated finish. The balance of fruit, acidity and tannin is fabulous. This is another great showing from Montagna. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030." -Antonio Galloni (Dec 2012)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This tannic young 100% Cabernet, which comes off the Pritchard Hill estate, is ageable, although it's not quite in the same league as the winery's legendary 2009. Blame it on the irregular vintage. Still, you'll find a rich core of black currants, violets, cassis and cocoa, girded by the tangy, firm minerality that Pritchard Hill frequently offers. Begin drinking it in 2016." -S.H. (4/1/2014)

91 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Full ruby-red. Slightly porty high tones to the aromas of inky cassis, black cherry, menthol and nutty oak. Dense, juicy and penetrating, offering an enticing combination of sweetness and freshness. Has the intensity of flavor--and balance--to handle its firm, ripe tannins. The long finish features complex, expressive flavors of currant, tobacco and minerals. This is very good." -Stephen Tanzer (May/Jun 13)

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Big and rustic, with a firm, dense mass of dark berry, dried herb and cedar notes, accented by melted black licorice. Gains tannic muscle on the finish. Needs time. Best from 2014 through 2026. 224 cases made." -JL (Nov 15, 2013)
