Notes from the Winemaker:
Established in 2004, Miles Mossop Wines began with the intention of making terroir-driven wines from only the highest quality fruit sources that showed off the potential of Stellenbosch that owner and winemaker Miles Mossop had seen working as a winemaker for other estates. Exemplified by the fact that his first wines were all named after he and his wife Samantha's three children, this project will always be a family business for Miles.

  • A blend of 68% Chenin Blanc, 13% Clairette Blanche, 13% Verdelho and 6% Viognier
  • Chenin Blanc grapes are sourced from two bush vine, granite-soil sites on the northern slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain (Swartland) picked at different times to preserve both acidity and ripeness
  • Aged on lees for 11 months with regular stirring in French oak barrel (12% new)

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"An alluring, graceful white, with a silky texture coating the palate, while vibrant acidity pierces the lemon, verbena and yellow plum flavors. Mineral and hazelnut accents add to the complexity. A salty aftertaste lingers. Focused and well-structured. Chenin Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Verdelho and Viognier. Drink now through 2027. 540 cases made, 60 cases imported." - AZ (May 31, 2020)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Composed of 68% Chenin Blanc, 13% Verdelho, 13% Clairette Blanche and 6% Viognier, the 2016 Saskia wafts from the glass with a floral and waxy stone fruit essence that is compounded by tropical fruits and a lemony minerality on the nose. Medium-bodied in the mouth, flavors of white peach, green melon, pineapple, kiwi fruit and Meyer lemon can be found on the palate before merging to a slightly waxy and phenolicly bitter edge across the mid-palate. This interesting blend ends with a pleasing structure and zippy finish that is thoughtful and balanced. Check it out." - Anthony Mueller (March 2020)
