Notes from the Winemaker:
The grapes of three parcels compose this cuvee which originates from the localities: «Aux Reas», «Au-Dessus de la Riviere» and «La Colombiere». All of these parcels are located close to the village, the last two being located on conglomerates of clay limestone on Oligocene strata, which are called "Salmon conglomerates" because of their salmon-pink colour. As for «Les Reas», they lay on hard limestone soils on Bajocian strata. These marls which are alternated with limestone blocks produce very soft and elegant wines.
Area: 0,92 ha
Age of the Vines: 40 years
Average Annual Production: 6,000 btls
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir

93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This is oaky, offering mint, vanilla, toast and vegetal aromas and flavors, wrapped around a core of cherry. Shows intensity, persistence and a succulent feel. Best from 2023 through 2040. 1,000 cases made, 90 cases imported." -BS (2020)
90-92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Clos des Reas has one of the most ebullient and vivacious bouquets from Michel Gros this year with red cherries, wild strawberries and a touch of blood orange in the mix. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, crisp acidity, plentiful tart red fruit with a fine structure that does not dominate toward the finish. Excellent." - Neal Martin (29th Dec 2017)
90-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Here the expressive nose is similar to that of the Brûlées though with a bit more wood in evidence and it can also be found on the round, velvety and very rich medium-bodied flavors that are less mineral-driven, all wrapped in a seductive, dusty and less structured finale. As is typically the case, this should be approachable on the younger side." - (Jan 15, 2018)
