Notes from the Winemaker:

The grapes of three parcels compose this cuvee which originates from the localities: «Aux Reas», «Au-Dessus de la Riviere» and «La Colombiere». All of these parcels are located close to the village, the last two being located on conglomerates of clay limestone on Oligocene strata, which are called "Salmon conglomerates" because of their salmon-pink colour. As for «Les Reas», they lay on hard limestone soils on Bajocian strata. These marls which are alternated with limestone blocks produce very soft and elegant wines.

Area: 0,92 ha
Age of the Vines: 40 years
Average Annual Production: 6,000 btls
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Black cherry, spice and earth flavors are matched to a dense structure here, with concentration and subtle power building up to the finish. Drink now through 2024. 1,000 cases made." – BS (Jun 30, 2017)

90-92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Clos des Réas comes from Michel's triangular, walled monopole towards the south of the village. It has a slight stemminess on the nose that is nicely defined, very natural, the fruit black rather than red, evolving a light marine accent with time. The palate is energetic and tensile on the entry with blackcurrant, raspberry and a touch of bitter lemon towards the chalky textured finish. This is quite a complex Clos des Réas this year from Michel and one I look forward to revisiting once in bottle." - Neal Martin (Dec 2015)

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Like several of the wines in the range the nose is a markedly pungent combination of wood toast and reduction that renders it impossible to assess. Otherwise there is a more refined mouth feel to the slightly less concentrated medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a velvety, dusty and palate coating finale that is a bit less structured." - (Jan 15, 2016)
