Notes from the winemaker:

A vibrant gold color, this wine is alive with aromas of ripe, sweet pear, pineapple, popcorn, golden delicious apple, toffee, and vanilla bean. Showcasing the balanced 2014 growing season, the smooth, bright entry offers the prelude to a fresh and delicate wine with lots of personality, weight and volume. The acidity is well framed by the flavor and texture of the wine. Naturally sweet flavors and aromatics are accented by complex barrel note, leading to a lengthy, sophisticated finish.

Vineyard Notes:
The fruit in this Chardonnay is primarily grown on our Stanly Ranch Estate Vineyard in Carneros, with some select lots from the renowned Hyde Vineyard and the Poe Vineyard.

Production Notes:
The grapes were carefully sorted, whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented using 100% native yeast. The wine spent 12 months in 30% new French oak barrel.

Ratings & Reviews

89 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Merryvale's 2014 Chardonnay is delicious, with notes of lemon custard and orange rind in a medium-bodied, wonderfully fresh and pure, minimally oaked style. The fruit is prominent in this attractive wine which can be drunk over the next 2-3 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Dec 2015)

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2013 Vintage):
"This is rich and oaky in honey and graham cracker yet completely well integrated in terms of tannin and power. Silky smooth, it invites with compelling layers of apple, pear and fresh-squeezed blood orange, finishing roundly satisfying." - Virginie Boone (12/1/2015)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 Vintage):
"Merryvale always does a nice job with Chardonnay and their 2013 Chardonnay is no exception. It exhibits plenty of citrus oil and tangerine skin notes, medium body, subtle oak and a long, exuberant, fresh, fruity finish. This beauty should drink nicely for 2-3 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Oct 2014)

Wine Spectator Magazine (2013 Vintage):
"Fresh and vibrant, with a zesty core of green apple, citrus and tangerine flavors, showing a touch of pithiness in the texture. Drink now. 3,200 cases made." - JL (Jul 31, 2015)
