Since the beginning of the 1900s in the village of Ciotto near La Morra, they have been cultivating vines, orchards, gardens, and raising livestock. Today, the winery produces 100,000 bottles from about 23 hectares of vineyards distributed throughout La Morra and Monforte d’Alba. The family believes in making balanced wines, respecting the land and its characteristics of origin, with attentive work in the vineyard and just as much care taken in the cellars.

Notes from the Winemaker:
In this wine we combine the grapes of 4 crus from 3 different municipalities, which fully express the representative balance of the Barolo area.

Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo

Type of training: guyot

Vinification: maceration with the skins in temperature-controlled steel tanks for 10-15 days, then racking and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel (about 20 days) is completed where, maintaining the controlled temperature, malolactic fermentation also takes place. Subsequently, around December, the wine is placed in small oak barrels, 15-20% new and 80% second and third passage, where it remains to age for a total of 24 months. After being decanted in stainless steel, the wine can be bottled without filtration or clarification.

Tasting Notes:

Color: ruby red of medium intensity with garnet veins.

Bouquet: intense, harmonious, with ethereal, delicate and immediately captivating notes. Light finish of red fruits.

Taste: warm, balanced, with good persistence and ready to drink. Delicate vanilla aftertaste and finish with smooth tannins.

Serving temperature: 16°-18°. It is pleasant to appreciate the initial freshness and experience the evolution of the aromas as the wine warms up in the glass.

Evolution: a wine that is particularly ready to be drunk from the moment it is marketed, but with potential longevity.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Crisp and fruity developing notes of crushed strawberries, red currants, stones, peppercorns and dried flowers on the nose. Medium body with firm tannins and sharp acidity at this stage. Racy and vivid with plenty of energy at the crunchy and slightly tart finish. Drink after 2027." - JS (Feb 2026)

93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Offering a textbook snapshot of the vintage, the Mauro Veglio 2022 Barolo shows some of the extra concentration and fruit weight of the warm growing season, yet it remains slender and tapered in a manner that only the beautiful Nebbiolo grape can manage. Dark cherry, cola, grilled herb and lavender essence rise from the bouquet, leading to some extra grip in terms of structure. Drawn from younger vines and cooler vineyard exposures across Arborina, Gattera, Castelletto and Serralunga d'Alba, the wine ages for 24 months in barrique, only 15% of which is new oak, helping to preserve varietal purity and freshness. The tannins are firm but integrated, and the finish closes with balanced intensity. Some 25,000 bottles were produced. " - Monica Larner (Jul 2026)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Pretty is the first word and it earns it, ripe cherry, raspberry, and strawberry arriving plump, juicy, and forward alongside wild flowers, mint, and the warm embrace of anise, clove, and cinnamon. The palate tells a more structured story, tart dried fruits reconstituting around whole spices while defined tannins give the wine real shape and bright acidity lifts the finish with purpose. A genuine achievement from a tough vintage. Drink now to 2045." - JP (Aug 2026)
