Distillery Notes:

It’s everything you love about Maker’s Mark® with a whole lot more to love. Our founder himself, Bill Samuels, Sr., was the first fan of this high proof bourbon. Bill liked to tuck a little 101 aside for friends and special occasions. And for a long time, this was the only way you could experience these intensified notes of caramel and spice brought on by the higher proof – yet matched with that familiar Maker’s Mark® smoothness. Now – at special times during the year – this limited release is available for you to share with guests of your own.

Tasting Notes:

AROMA: Sweet, dark bold spice on the nose
TASTE: Rich, creamy and soft with spice, fruit and caramel
FINISH: Mellow, creamy midpalate finish that pleasantly lingers
PROOF: 101

"Golden amber color. Aromas of bit-o-honey candies, carob, leather tannery, and banana with a chewy, vibrant, dry medium-to-full body and a smooth, interesting, long snicker’s bar, spice cake, kirsch, and coffee finish. A classic Maker’s flavor profile with bolder body, greater depth of flavor and a bigger personality."

"This bridges the Cask Strength and standard Maker’s perfectly. It’s a higher-proof, which brings out bolder flavor notes. But that touch of limestone water really helps make this a quaffable dram of whisky. Seriously, this is so easy to drink neat that you’d think it cost a few hundred bucks. This is also the perfect cocktail whisky. The flavor notes and ABVs stand up to any mix. It’s truly a masterpiece." - Uproxx

"This is really quite good. It’s a warm tasty glass of bourbon and comes across as at least a step, if not two, above the standard Maker’s Mark. There’s a lot more going on with this whiskey, most notably the spice quality. As it sits, the baking spice quality expands and gets more prominent, more complex and stretches deeper into the finish. A splash of water brings up more of the darkly sweet notes and broadens the oak across the palate giving it a deeper sensation. Quite tasty and equally fun to sip as it is to mix with, making it a versatile drinker. Dangerously easy to drink no matter what form it’s in."
- The Whiskey Jug

"Maker’s 101 reminds me a lot of Old Weller Antique’s characteristics. It also features a potency I don’t often associate with Maker’s Mark. A fun and enjoyable tasting experience." - Breaking Bourbon

"If you are a Maker's fan, like I am, this is a must-have addition to your collection. It is sweet and loaded with baking spice flavors." - Bourbon Guy
