About the Domaine:
Louis Roederer has been synonymous with the world's great Champagnes since 1776, and it is one of the rare family owned companies, which is still managed by the Roederer family today. They are also one of the only French champagne producers to own nearly 75% of the grapes in the most desirable vineyards in the Champagne. The property is located on 450 acres in the finest villages of Montagne de Reims, Cotes des Blancs, and Valle de la Marne. Each region is selected to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with the elegance needed for perfectly balanced champagne. The Louis Roederer vineyards rate an average 98% based on France's statutory 100-point classification scale..
Tasting Notes:
A light, bright and clear rosé. Fine, steady stream of bubbles, evenly distributed across the glass. Complex bouquet dominated by an almost minty freshness combined with zesty fruit, wild strawberry and raspberry. The nose opens out to reveal spicy and smoky notes, characteristic of the Pinot noirs grown in Cumières, along with aromas of dried fruit, roasted almonds and cocoa beans. Underlying saline notes, reminiscent of sea spray.
On the palate the wine is soft and smooth yet also piercingly fresh. A well-integrated wine with excellent body, pleasant freshness, long length and delicate mouthfeel. The body softens gradually and coats the palate with a velvety smoothness underpinned by a pleasant salinity and delicate hints of tannin from the flesh and skins of the Pinot noir grape. The finish is fresh, long and very persistent.
67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - James Suckling:
"White fruit immediately on the nose, as well as some very strong lemon and lime notes. Some gently chalky notes, too, from the Chouilly chardonnay, which is super chalky. The palate has such focus and drive and a great, mineral core. Very long with a fresh line of acidity and peripheral, smooth flesh. Some pink grapefruit at the finish. Drink or hold." (July 2019)
93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2013 Vintage shows the compelling interplay of ripeness and high acids that are so typical of the year. The Vintage is built on a core of Pinot from Verzy, with Chardonnay from Chouilly, on the Cramant border. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2013 is a fabulous Champagne will reward readers with many years of exceptional drinking. The saltiness of Chouilly Chardonnay is a wonderful foil for Pinot here. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon continues to bump up the Pinot here, as he takes the Vintage back to the blend that was used in the 1840s. Dosage is 8.5 grams per liter." - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2019)
93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2013 Brut Rosé is a more elegant, medium-bodied Champagne that shines for its balance and seamless texture. Beautiful caramelized cherry, orange blossom, and strawberry notes all emerge from the glass and it gains richness and depth with time. With its bright, lively style and a great finish, this is another beautiful wine from this estate." (7/7/2020)
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"A smoothly textured wine, this is perfectly in balance, with red berry and currant fruitiness assimilated into the lightly tannic and crisp texture. Drink from 2019." - Roger Voss (12/1/2018)
92+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The Roederer 2013 Brut Vintage Rosé has a lovely light pink color and opens with highly delicate red fruit and flowery aromas. The wine is light, fresh, pure, very delicate and stimulatingly salty. Very energetic and at the same time caressing. The finish displays pink grapefruit, blood orange and lime zest flavors. Highly stimulating in its purity, freshness and citrus character. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon finds it less vinous than the 2012, but he thinks the 2013 has huge aging potential. Disgorged in January 2018, tasted at the domaine in May." - Stephan Reinhardt (Jun 2018)
92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Fresh and floral, this delicate rose features a lithe, lively mousse, with hints of white cherry, peach skin, grated ginger and orchard blossom. Pretty, offering a lingering finish of spice and mineral. Drink now through 2028." - AN (Dec 15, 2019)
