Notes from the Winemaker:
The passion of wine is to be shared in a glass but also through the soil.
We have been developing for many years some long term partnerships with some vinegrowers that share with us the passion for requirement, meticulous work without contribution other than natural supplements.
These wines are issued from the Côte de Beaune and notably Auxey-Duresses and Puligny-Montrachet and the Côte Chalonnaise (Rully 1er cru). They are vinified by the Domaine Leflaive's team, in separate cellars in Puligny-Montrachet.
In order to distinguish them from the historical part of the domaine, we have given them their own identity under the name "Leflaive & Associés".
WINEMAKING: Hand harvested, sorted and pressed in Mâcon, the wine is decanted over night and then brought back to Puligny for both fermentation and aging there at the Domaine.
AGING: 12 months in oak (20% new) then 6 months in stainless steel vat before bottling.
VINEYARDS: Rully Premier Cru; 2 parcels; "Rully Premier": 2ha (4.94 acres); planted in 1950 and 1990
SOIL: Calcareous clay
90 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"The 2018 Rully 1er Cru needs quite a bit of air to find its focus, which is rather surprising for a wine at this level, and something I imagine most readers would not expect. Initially rather clunky, the 2018 opens to reveal layers of citrus, chalk and floral notes, all buttressed by bright acids. The 2018 finds its stride only after having been opened for a few hours." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2020)
