About This Wine:
These vineyards from the hillsides of Couchey, in a place known as "En Sampagny" offer a fine, solid, and structured wine. The nose is fruity, primarily notes of red and black fruits like blackberry. The attack on the palate reveals firm but elegant tannins that will encourage ageing this wine for several years. This is a great introduction to the red wines of the Cote de Nuits.
Nature of the Soil:
The vineyards are found in the Commune of COUCHEY, on a hillside facing east - south east. Here, the soils date from the middle of the Jurassic period. There are bedded sediment strata, from limestone to fossils as well as marls of oestra acuminate.
Total Surface : 6,5 ouvrées (1 ouvrée = 4 ares 28)
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Average Age of the Vines : 40 years old
Harvesting : Manual only
Average Production : 1500 Bouteilles.
Ratings & Reviews
88-90 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A much more restrained but notably fresher nose offers up pretty red pinot fruit and earth aromas that are trimmed in subtle notes of the sauvage. There is a lovely sense of energy to the delicious and refreshing flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality, all wrapped in a firm and mildly rustic finale." - (Jan 15, 2016)
