Notes from the Winemaker:

Located in the well-respected Sta. Rita Hills appellation, Mormann is one of the sandiest vineyards we have ever worked with. While that may not sound ideal for growing, sandy soils are great for grape vines. The poor water retention and excellent drainage lead to smaller berries, fewer clusters and more intense grapes that produce more intense wine. This year’s Mormann is bright, fresh and driven by mouth-watering notes of red plums, cherries, ripe raspberries, and pomegranate. The finish is long and silky with hints of spice and minerals. Drink this wine now or age it over the next eight years.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"One of my favorites in the lineup, the 2013 Pinot Noir Mormann Vineyard comes from the northern part of the AVA and beach sand-like soils. A textbook Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir, it offers impressive spice, dried flowers and fresh earth-like qualities to go with a core of wild strawberry and darker-styled fruit. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, layered and with solid richness, it’s a savory, classic effort to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years." - Jeb Dunnuck (Aug 2014)
