About the winery:
Le Miccine is a family owned winery and vineyard located in Gaiole in Chianti. The estate respects the traditions of the Chianti Classico area while applying innovative thinking in the vineyard and winery practices. Winemaker Paula Cook was born in Quebec, Canada, but moved to her grandparent's ancestral home of Tuscany in 2008, buying an estate that had been abandoned during the global financial crisis. She learnt Italian while she revived this vineyard, using only ancient traditional methods to breathe life back into the soil and the vines. Le Miccine has seven hectares of vineyards that surround the property. Le Miccine follows organic viticultural practices and was certified organic in 2016.

About the wine:
This wine is a fine example of Le Miccine wine style. The Chianti Classico is a crisp, vibrant and fruitful wine that is great with a wide variety of foods from Asian style pork to a well prepared pasta dish. Blend of traditional Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera and Colorino grapes.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Since taking over this estate, Paula Papini Cook has farmed her uniquely trellised bush vines organically, and the wines will be certified as such from the 2016 vintage. She crafts her Gran Selezione from the best grapes of a specific parcel planted with a single clone. Top notes of oak make way for fragrant violets, red cherry, truffle and fennel. The palate demonstrates decent stuffing for the vintage, with crunchy acidity and slightly dry tannins. It will be best over the next few years." - Michaela Morris (Feb 2018)
