Notes from the Winemaker:

Aromas of white lily, honeycomb and Gravenstein apple leap from the glass. The entry is marked by focused citrus acidity that folds into lemon curd and a softer note of sweet cream. Buoyant fruitiness plays against Chanterelle mushroom; the wine is both fresh and rich at once with a hint of spiciness on the late palate. Beeswax and baked apple emerge on the soft, lingering finish. A truly sumptuous Chardonnay.

Manchester Ridge Vineyard is perched at 2000 ft. elevation overlooking the Manchester plain with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Winters are moderated by the maritime climate and bud-break is early (February to early March). Shoot growth is slow through the relatively cool summer, which allows the fruit a long hang time for flavor development and ripeness. The vineyard is trellised on a modified double Guyot system to maximize solar penetration and rooted in well-draining decomposed sandstone. We pick three clones of Chardonnay from this exceptional site: Dijon 76, Old Wente and the new Dijon clone 809.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"From a Mendocino site, the 2012 Chardonnay Manchester Ridge Vineyard reveals notes of lemon meringue pie, white currants and flowers, crisp acidity, medium body and a naked, Chablis-like style. It is completely different than the Lorenzo Vineyard Chardonnay, but is impeccably well-made. Drink it over the next 5-6 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Dec 2014)

89 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Offers a mix of honey and honeydew flavors, with pear, apple and subtle citrus notes. The oaks hangs in the background, making this a fresh, snappy, crisp style, showing some added texture. Drink now. 561 cases made." - JL (Jul 31, 2015)
