Distillery Notes:

Still very much the whisky for those who love big, rich, smoky-peaty malts, our latest version of THE PEAT MONSTER is older and more elegant than before. Inspired by feedback from smoky whisky lovers, our new PEAT MONSTER incorporates single malts with a more aromatic and graceful style of smokiness. We have sought to retain the peaty intensity for which THE PEAT MONSTER has long been celebrated, whilst creating a depth and elegance not seen before.

Tasting Notes:

New batches of THE PEAT MONSTER boast a spectrum of powerful coastal flavors, combining the smokiness of a driftwood fire with more medicinal peat notes. Orchard fruits and rich cask-derived creaminess balance the multi-layered smoke.

94 Points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible:
"There's no mistaking the intent of The Peat Monster: to be one of the peatiest whiskys in all of Scotland. But underlying that is a desire to balance beautifully peaty, smoky aromas and flavors with those that are malty and fruity. Blending peated single malt whiskies from different regions of Scotland creates a style that is unique in the world of Scotch whisky. You will find a spectrum of seaside and medicinal peatiness, along with kipper-like smokiness, all surrounding a core of fruity malt whisky character. THE PEAT MONSTER is a whisky for those who love intensity, flavor and freshness, balance and drinkability. A whisky for those who appreciate the blending of seemingly dissonant elements to create something sublime."

93 Points & #9 TOP 20 OF 2020, #1 Blended Malt - Whisky Advocate:
"The much-beloved Peat Monster was recently given a new recipe designed to create greater depth and elegance. The peat influence, while still omnipresent, is now more subtle. On the nose it's gentle and fragrant, wafting over candied citrus, lemon-frosted cake, and raspberry, along with classic peated undertones of charcoal and iodine. The palate is creamy in texture, with pleasant notes of brine, seashells, ashiness, and a floral peat influence that swirls gently around rich vanilla, tropical hints of lime, smoked meats, and generous spice. The finish offers bitter chocolate, lemon hard candy, and a bang of spice and smoke." - David Fleming

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"An intensely smoky initial bouquet which then becomes creamy, concentrated, citrusy, mash-like, and very malty. At palate entry heavily smoked flavors of charred barley and kippers appear; at midpalate the taste profile turns sweet, bonfire-like, and strikingly like smoky green tea and honey. Ends sweet, moderately smoky, ash-like, and even caramel-like. An elegant malt despite its moniker."
