Notes from the Winemaker:
The vineyards lie between Illmitz and the shore of the Neusiedlersee. There are soft, undulating hills between 1 – 1.5 meters high. These have an important influence on the growth of the grapes and especially on the generation of Botrytis because, in the Fall, the damp fog settles here. The vineyards are planted densely, as stress and the battle for nutrients are actually good for the vines: they root deeper and have lower grape yields, while the grapes themselves are more concentrated.

Ratings & Reviews

98 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Marmalade, toffee, vanilla and tonka bean swirl on the nose. Rich and smooth, rounded and mellow, yet with an incredibly bright, aromatic core of fine citrus. Think dried and candied orange peel and candied blood orange. What a magical balance the citrus freshness strikes with the cushioning, gentle vanilla. Textural bliss and aromatic fireworks. Drink until 2040, at least." - AK (Dec 2018)

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This is off to an intense start, but the creaminess is quickly sliced by precise, refreshing acidity, which is an important facet in such a complex dessert-style wine. Features flavors of apple pie, creamed honey and sweet spice, and continues to give while unraveling on the palate, ending with a salted caramel note. The finish caresses the palate and seems to last forever. Drink now through 2034. 100 cases imported." - BS (Sep 2018)
