About the Winemaker:
John’s winemaking philosophy encompasses natural fermentation, minimal sulfite addition and no fining or filtration. The grape sourcing is from organic or sustainably farmed vineyards. The wine style is a hybrid between New and Old World methods showcasing the ripe fruit of California.
About the Wine:
Organically grown in Sonoma Valley vinted with native yeast, and aged using minimal sulfite additions with no fining or filtration. Eight percent organic Cabernet Sauvignon was added to give a bit of structure to the Merlot. The fruit has been sourced from Grebennikof since the 2007 vintage and this is one of the finest vintages I have produced from this vineyard. Flavors of blackberries, cherry, plum. A light touch on the oak makes for this Merlot’s light and perfumey style.
