Notes from the Winemaker:
Clos Saint Denis from Domaine Gagey is an elegant wine, with a nice ruby colour. It presents aromas of cherry and blackcurrant but also spices. The tannins are both powerful and subtle. It will match ideally game and most cheeses from Burgundy.

Vi
neyard:
Morey Saint Denis is one of the smallest village appellation in the Cote de Nuits. Four Grands Crus are located in this village and among them Clos Saint Denis. The wines from Morey show characteristics and personalities which go between Gevrey-Chambertin (powerful) and Chambolle Musigny (elegant).

Characteristics:
The Clos Saint Denis is a very old vineyard which used to belong to the church of Saint Denis from Vergy, founded in 1203 in the castle of Vergy. The vineyard is South-East oriented. The soil is made of clay and limestone together with iron and marls.

Wine making:
Grapes are destemmed before their maceration in open vats. The wine is then
aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

Preservation:
This grand cru can definitely age very well more than 30 years. Ideally it should
not be drunk before 5 years of age.

Ratings & Reviews

92-95 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Deep, bright red. Lovely energy and lift to the aromas and flavors of red fruits, brown spices, dried flowers and sexy oak. Broad and dry on the palate, offering superb density and lift and a saline complexity that adds another dimension. This ripely tannic Clos Saint-Denis strikes me as unusually powerful for the vintage and for the cru. But that's no complaint." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan 2015)
