About the Winery:
Founded by vintner Jayson Woodbridge, the Hundred Acre winery is an exclusive estate that rests in the heart of Napa Valley.  Since 2002, Hundred Acre single vineyard wines have received 22 100-point scores from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and Jayson's craftsmanship truly highlights the beauty of Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the Vineyard:
The single estate vineyard ARK is located just outside St. Helena, California at the
base of Howell Mountain. It was originally planted in the 1880s, but was sadly lost to Prohibition. It took us five years to rebuild; she is our pride and joy.
The ARK is comprised of nine different blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, planted
meter by meter in nine different volcanic soil strata. The vineyard stretches through a sixty-million-year time sequence: three ancient beach fronts, a prehistoric weapons quarry, and spans a 180-degree arc of the sun over its half-mile length. Hot afternoon sun known to damage aromatics in the fruit (on the hottest days), is blocked by the shade of Glass Mountain (named for the rare obsidian rock found in the soil and for ancient weapons such as arrowheads) which rises to the western side of the ARK vineyard.

Tasting Notes:
The ARK Vineyard is full of freshly crushed red and black currants, black cherries, black raspberries and cassis scents with spectacular lilacs and fragrant earth accents. Full bodied, rich and velvety, the palate is densely packed with lavish and extravagant fruit, finishing with long, lingering earthy notes.

Technical Information

Cooperage:
Hundred Acre wines are aged for a minimum of 30 months in the finest, center-cut French oak barrique. The stave wood is hand-selected for ultra-tight grain, then air dried for three years before being made into barrels.

Ratings & Reviews

99+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard delivers powerful scents of blackberry preserves, chocolate-covered cherries and stewed plums, giving way to red and black currant jelly, beef drippings and wild fungi. Full-bodied, tightly wound and shimmering with tension in the mouth, it has a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins supporting the reticent fruit, finishing savory and with lots of latent energy. All the signs say that this baby is holding back right now and has more to give with considerable cellaring. Tuck it away for at least 5-6 years and then enjoy it over the next 40 years+."  - LPB (12/16/2021)
