Notes from the Winemaker:
Aromas of wild cherry, crushed violets and a Rooibos tea-like note of earth and spice, complement the notes of salinity and ripe cherry. With polished tannins and a lengthy finish, this very elegant wine shows the beauty of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir..

Vineyard & Vintage Character:
Fruit for our premier release from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA  "Truly Rita Pinot Noir“ comes from the well-respected Dierberg“ Drum Canyon site. This vineyard is on a steep slope facing the Pacific Ocean and is influenced by the cool ocean breezes everyday. Our blocks are planted to three selections: Swan, Calera and Dijon 115. The well drained and calcium rich soils, combined with the cool climate produces a wine that is very graceful, but with powerful underlying texture.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Vinous:
"A new wine in this range, the 2016 Pinot Noir Truly Rita is gorgeous. Bright and vibrant in the glass, the 2016 offers terrific drive in a mid-weight, energetic style that holds considerable appeal. Red and purplish berry fruit, rose petal, lavender and mint are all beautifully focused. A touch of whole clusters adds lift without being especially evident." - Antonio Galloni (May 2019)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Lots of strawberries, raspberry, rose hips, and violet notes emerge from the 2016 Pinot Noir Truly Rita, which comes from the Dierberg-Drum Canyon Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. From a mix of Calera, Swan, and Dijon 115 clones, aged in 26% new French oak, it’s medium-bodied, with an elegant, focused texture, ripe tannins, and some classic Sta. Rita Hills minerality and salinity. It’s showing nicely today yet should cruise for 10-12 years." - Jeb Dunnuck (6/14/2019)

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Aged 17 months in 26% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, the medium ruby-purple colored 2016 Pinot Noir Truly Rita comes sashaying out of the glass with seriously spicy notions of cinnamon stick, cloves, anise and black pepper with a core of red currant jelly, kirsch and raspberry preserves plus a waft of wild thyme. Medium-bodied, the palate has lovely restraint with elegant red fruit layers framed by soft tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a mineral note. 216 cases produced." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (28th Feb 2019)
