Ratings & Reviews
"Scheduled to be bottled this coming February and slightly lighter in style, the 2011 Saint-Joseph Vignes de l'Hospice (100% Syrah aged 30 months in 100% new French oak) offers perfumed spice, red currants, blackberry and bouquet garni-styled aromatics, medium to full-body and an overall seamless, forward and silky profile. It should be ready to go on release, yet evolve gracefully for 10-15 years." -Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2013)
93 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2010 vintage):
"Opaque ruby. Powerful blackberry and cherry liqueur aromas pick up suave floral and spicecake nuances with air, along with a touch of smokiness. Rich, chewy and broad, with concentrated blackberry and cassis flavors energized by juicy acidity. Finishes smooth and sweet, with velvety tannins and a strong kick of peppery spices and minerals." -Josh Raynolds (Mar/Apr 14)
96 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2009 vintage):
"Bold, with dark blackberry, warm linzer torte and fresh cassis aromas and flavors pumping along, lined with briary but integrated grip and backed by a long, charcoal-studded finish. A very impressive display of power and depth, without sacrificing definition. Best from 2015 through 2025. 625 cases made." -JM (Oct 31, 2013)
