About the Wine:
Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er cru lies in the "Zone Vosnoise" or northern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges just below Les Damodes. It borders Vosne-Romanee Aux Malconsorts 1er just to its north. Its position slightly lower on the slope with deep soil full of pebbles results in a richer and fuller wine.

Tasting Notes:
The wine shows aromas and flavors of red berries, herbs, and purple flowers. The palate is rich with ripe fruit and medium weight with bright acidity and fine tannins. Aging in 30-60% new Burgundian piece brings notes of vanilla, toast, and baking spices.

Food Pairing:
Red Burgundy might be the world's most flexible food wine. The wine's high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Distinct notes of green tea and spice elements are present on the red currant, earth and black raspberry aromas. The full-bodied and muscular middle weight plus flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration before culminating in a velvety, seductive and once again beautifully complex, long and wonderfully persistent finale. Note however that despite the seductive mouth feel this is indisputably built-to-age and is going to need at least 7 to 8 years of bottle age." - (Jan 2017)

92-94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Boudots was quite reduced on the nose when I tasted it, more than other 2014s. The palate is underpinned by fine tannin, very structured and with plenty of finesse. I very much like the acidity here and the elegance that even the reduction does not disguise. Long and tender in the mouth, this is a classy Boudots in the making. One of Etienne's more feminine wines." - Neal Martin (Dec 2015)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This refined red offers sweet and aromatic notes of flowers and sandalwood, followed by cherry and currant flavors. Shows beautiful balance and persists on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2035. 96 cases imported. " BS (Oct 2018)

91+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Bright, dark red. A touch of reduction to the aromas of black raspberry, leather and roast coffee. At once silky and energetic, with savory berry, leather and spice flavors expanding in the middle palate and mounting on the very long finish. Despite the wine's slightly rustic aspect, the finish is vibrant and the tannins quite refined." - Stephen Tanzer (Mar 2017)
