About the Winery:
Julie and Xavier Gonet-Medeville are, in many ways, the first couple of French wines. Both hail from storied winemaking families: Julie's family is famous for its incomparable Chateau Gilette, and Xavier comes from a long line of Champagne growers in Le Mesnil. Leading a new generation of winemakers, they bring their family knowledge, methods and passion to the many wines they now make together.
In 2000, when his family's plots were being divided, Xavier opted for a modest collection of the highest quality 1er and Grand Cru vineyards with a goal of producing only the most exquisite, small-production Champagnes.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A lovely note of ripe black currant meets rich hints of toasted brioche, candied ginger and salted almond in this elegant Champagne, with a fine, silky mousse. This is well-knit and lightly mouthwatering, and at 14 years of age, still vibrant and focused through to the mouthwatering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2030."  Alison Napjus (December 2020)

91 Points -
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2003 Vintage):
"60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir, raised in older barriques Yellow-gold. Musky peach and nectarine on the nose, with hints of poached pear and smoky lees and an exotic note of wild strawberry. Fresh and incisive but deep in orchard fruit and floral flavors, with notes of cherry pit and hazelnut emerging on the back half. Subtly smoky on the finish, leaving behind notes of spicecake and red fruits. This is showing very good energy for a Champagne from a hot vintage." - Josh Raynolds (Nov/Dec '10)
