Tasting Notes

Nose: Aromatic citrus notes kick off this dram, with hints of orange peel and marmalade on the nose. A peppery, spicy note develops over time.

Palate: Rich on the palate, with notes of barbequed meats hinting toward the peat smoke influence. There is a sweetness apparent in notes of sticky honey glaze and demerara sugar.

Finish: The subtle touch of peat smoke continues in the finish with notes of soot and burnt embers

Proof: Bottled at cask strength -116.2 (58.1% ABV)

Awards/Reviews:

"A really nice, juicy sherry character. Lots of redcurrants and sour cherry candy. Behind this I find the expected dusty notes, leather, coffee and walnuts, as well as mentholated hints. Charred oak. Plenty of tobacco leaves, pleasant hints of humid cellars in Jerez. Clean and simply really good. A deeply earthy and smoky side now, which combines nicely with the tobacco flavors and muddy / foresty notes. Syrupy cherries, drops of cough syrup, cocoa and liquorice. Subtle farmy notes. Dark chocolate mousse with salt flakes (great combo). All in all, a good mix of darkness and brightness. A really good sherry cask version of Kilkerran. With this kind of sherry influence you get a compelling combination of Jerez aroma and peaty character. Grab it if you have a chance." - Whisky Notes

"Arrives on toffee and fudge with a slight lactic element also, quickly followed by raspberries and figs. There’s mocha, almonds and earthy peat smoke, as well as a tinge of leather, some dried tobacco leaves, milk chocolate and a pinch of cinnamon. Sweet and fresh and gorgeous. Most importantly, no sulphur.
Rich, creamy on the palate and with plenty of farmy notes, as well as some oak spices, tobacco and very earthy, yet subtle peat smoke. Touches of pralines, spiced biscuits, cherry syrup and burnt toast also. Charred oak, tobacco and sweet cherries on the finish." - Words Of Whisky
