Notes from the Winemaker:
We decide on the picking date by tasting the berries. We harvest the grapes before sunrise to make the most of cool night-time temperatures. We do gentle pressing and cold-settling, then half the must goes into demi-muid casks to start fermenting. The rest is put into and vinified in stainless tanks.

Tasting notes:
Clear eggshell color with lilac edges. Appealing, delicate floral aromas with elderflower and may blossom tones. Nicely smooth and rounded mouth feel with honey, acacia and lavender flavors. Lovely full licorice finish.

Maturation: Our whites are stored for about 6 months.
Keeping: Best enjoyed young yet will improve for up to 15 years.
Blend: 25% Grenache blanc, 25% Clairette, 25% Bourboulenc, and 25% Roussanne
Soils: Rounded pebbles on the surface, clay underneath.
Annual production: Between 180 and 350 cases of 12 bottles re made on average every year.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The finest white I’ve tasted from this estate is unquestionably the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Gallimardes and it should be snatched up by savvy readers. Loaded with notions of white peach, buttered citrus, spice and loads of crushed rock-like minerality, it’s rich, layered and textured, yet also vibrant and pure. Bravo!" - Jeb Dunnuck (10/19/2017)

93 Points - Vinous:
"Transparent yellow. Incisive aromas of citrus zest, Anjou pear, fennel and honeysuckle take on a smoky mineral element as the wine opens up. Dry and precise on the palate, offering juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors that deepen and take a richer turn toward peach on the back half. Taut and nervy on the impressively long, mineral-driven finish, which features lingering floral and citrus fruit notes." Josh Raynolds - (Oct 2018)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Gallimardes Blanc is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc. It shows a touch of oak in its honeyed nose and rich texture but remains lively from start to finish, revealing bergamot, lime and musky spice notes on the long finish. It should drink well for at least a few years." - Joe Czerwinski (31st Oct 2017)
