Vineyard Notes:

The 2020 Ghost Block Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of fruit sourced from our family-owned and organically farmed Rock Cairn vineyard. This property is characterized by deep, gravelly loam soil with a western exposure. The vines produce highly concentrated fruit late in the season and are typically the last picks of our harvest. Five blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon separated by age reside on this site, ranging from 5- to 35-year-old plantings. This provides an opportunity for capturing characteristics that are specific to vine age, creating a perfect blend to express this valuable site. In this particular vintage, we have incorporated fruit from two of our other estate vineyards in Yountville and Oakville to complement this complex wine.

Tasting Notes:
This wine offers a harmonious balance of rick dark fruit, blackberries, and plums with hints of violet, chocolate, vanilla, and aromatic spices on the palate. Fined grain tannins frame the the velvety mid palate with a crisp and lingering finish. This wine is well structured and complex and will perfectly pair with grilled lamb chops.

Varietal Content

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Spectator (2019 vintage):
"Tilts to exotic in profile, with mulberry and boysenberry compote notes liberally scored with singed anise, fruitcake and Christmas pudding notes. A tarry coating on the finish adds more oomph, while the overall polished feel makes this accessible now. For fans of the style. Drink now through 2034. 4,850 cases made."

95 Points - Wine Spectator (2018 vintage):
"Very lush, with warmed plum sauce, cassis and linzer torte flavors gliding through slowly, but persistently, while cast iron and mesquite notes add range along the way. Stays on the dark side of the spectrum, with a flash of espresso crema flickering at the end amid the exotic fruit. Drink now through 2034. 4,500 cases made."
